Studio KIND Summer Open

The Studio KIND Summer Open returns for its fourth year, inviting artists from across Devon to be part of this exciting celebration of creativity and contemporary artistic practice. The exhibition highlights the breadth and diversity of work being produced across the region, and is open to artists at all stages of their careers working across all mediums including painting, photography, moving image, sculpture, printmaking, drawing and ceramics. Taking place at the height of summer, when North Devon welcomes visitors from far and wide, the Studio KIND Summer Open is an opportunity to reach new audiences and showcase what our arts community has to offer.  

Studio KIND is an artist-led space committed to championing artists and building a sustainable creative community in Devon. The Summer Open is an opportunity to nurture existing relationships whilst making new connections with local artists. As a fundraiser, the Summer Open directly supports Studio KIND’s year-round programme, and the exhibition will be accompanied by a series of free, family-friendly activities for local residents.

The 2026 Studio KIND Summer Open will run from Saturday 11th July to Saturday 15th August with the private view running from 3-5pm on Saturday 11th July. The gallery opening hours are 12-5pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Application process:

There is no theme and we are looking for artists who have a unique point of view. All art forms are considered, including (but not limited to) drawing, sculpture, painting, printmaking, moving image, sound, photography, textiles, and digital. Due to the limitations of the space we are not able to accept large-scale installation work. 

It is free to apply. If selected, there is a £20 participation fee which goes towards our running costs for putting on the exhibition. Artists are able to submit up to three pieces to be considered. The participation fee remains the same, regardless of the number of artworks submitted/selected.

Work doesn’t have to be for sale, but if you would like to offer your work for sale Studio KIND will process the payments and take 30% commission.

Please make a note of delivery and collection times as these cannot be changed. We are not able to receive/return work by courier, but we encourage lift sharing and will help facilitate this where possible. We are unable to store packaging material. 

We use the parameters of ‘Devon’ loosely, and if you live close to the border you are still welcome to apply.
